Richard K: "I went to The Healing Tree after taking part in a 19 mile run. Lorraine was amazing at listening to what I wanted to get from the massage and tailored it accordingly. I woke up the next day so revitalised after the best night sleep in a long time! I would not hesitate in recommending The Healing Tree to everyone!!."
A Blissful Massage to Ease Your Stresses and Strains
Therapeutic Body Massage involves working the soft tissue of the body where knots, tension and muscle tightness occur. By working into and around these areas, Therapeutic Body Massage can help to ease stress and muscular tension, thereby promoting relaxation and allowing your body to recuperate.
Comprising techniques such as Shiatsu, Swedish, Daoyin Tao, Deep Tissue, Thai, Lomi Lomi, Acupressure and Reflexology, the Massage works along bands of tension in the body, helping to free blockages and tightness caused by both physical and emotional tension, and helping to increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the treated areas.
Aaron B: "I had the best game of football I've had for weeks on Tuesday night, in terms of energy, flexibility and recovery! So thank you very much!"
Who Can It Help?
Therapeutic Body Massage is used by people for a variety of reasons. Some clients use it to simply relax and unwind, while others have regular massage to help them manage specific physical, mental or emotional problems. Many people who participate in sport have massage before and after training and competing, in order to stay in optimum condition and aid recovery.
Benefits of Therapeutic Body Massage are:
- Reduction in muscle spasm, pain and tension
- Release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers
- Promotes relaxation, therefore reducing stress and anxiety
- Improves blood circulation
- Improves lymphatic drainage
- Improves mobility
As stated by the Federation of Holistic Therapists, "there is a growing body of evidence to suggest that massage can be effective in helping to treat certain chronic conditions, such as fibromyalgia and low back pain. In guidelines produced in 2009 by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), manual therapies - including massage – are recommended for the early management of persistent, non-specific low back pain."
What to Expect During a Body Massage Session?
Therapeutic Body Massage sessions are tailored to suit your needs.
A 90 minute full body massage is a complete top to toe massage, easing tension and tight muscles and allowing your body to gain maximum benefit.
A 60 minute massage can be a full body massage, or can be tailored to focus on more specific areas, ie. back, neck, legs whilst incorporating other areas of tension in a flowing massage.
Limited for time - go for the 30 minute massage. This will focus on your main area of concern, eg. back/neck and, although the massage is of a shorter duration, it by no means reduces the benefits felt both mentally and physically.
Treatments take place on a massage couch, using a nourishing oil or wax-based product (discussed at the time of your massage). The oil/wax enables me to provide a free-flowing massage and work into areas of tension. Towels are carefully placed to ensure your modesty and keep you warm and comfortable throughout the treatment.
Amy N: "Wowee, genuinely the BEST massage and service I've ever had. What I like the most about it was the fact that I was massaged in areas of my back that I didn't even know NEEDED massaging. Lorraine was very professional at all times, and made me feel comfortable from the minute I walked in. It was a very different experience from other massages I've had, as Lorraine checked up on me the next day to see how I was feeling and I came away feeling as light as a feather. I'd highly recommend The Healing Tree, and as soon as I get the time, I'll be booking another appointment."
